Disney’s Newsies, based on the 1992 motion picture, features a score by eight-time Academy Award® winner Alan Menken and Jack Feldman and a book by four-time Tony Award® winner Harvey Fierstein. Newsies is inspired by the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, when newsboy Kid Blink led a band of orphan and runaway “newsies” on a two-week-long action against Pulitzer, Hearst, and other powerful newspaper publishers.
Casting ages 7 - 18.
"Newsies" will include a Junior Ensemble of younger performers (approximately ages 7-10). Those auditioning for the Junior Ensemble will go through the same audition process listed below.
Auditions will be on Monday, May 18 at the Ebell Theatre of Santa Ana at 718 Mortimer st. Santa Ana, CA 92701

AUDITION INFORMATION
All our auditions are open to the public and free of charge. There is no need to make an appointment; the dates and times are announced on our website and Facebook Page. Please check the audition post for more information, including audition location.
Auditions are typically from 6:30 PM until about 10:00 PM
All roles will be open to all genders within the age range given in the audition notice. No prior experience is necessary. We have a single cast and rarely double cast roles. We never pre-cast roles.
Actors must be prepared to fill out a form listing all possible conflicts during the rehearsal and show dates. Actors may also state if they will only accept certain roles; we have no problem with that. Actors under 18 years of age will need to be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.
All our productions are musicals. Actors need to prepare 16 to 32 bars of a song in the style of the show. No accompanist will be provided, so please bring recorded accompaniment on a phone, iPod, iPad, or MP3 player. Please download your song, don't depend on WIFI for streaming. We will provide a Bluetooth or wired speaker.
Wear clothes suitable for dancing. Be prepared to learn a dance combination with a group of 10.
Call Backs are announced immediately following auditions.
